Emergency Break Glass Fallacy

One thing that I like is to test my gear.
After that test my skill with the gear. Under my own standards

People think preparing means just buying things and tools. Learning a bit here and there.
It's more than that. You have to put yourself in really uncomfortable situations to put yourself and your skills to test. Find your mistakes, improve, and do it again. And again. And again. Until a standard is met and maintained. Then training has to be done routinely to maintain the level of proficiency.

It's no easy task. It's one of the things few people talk about and the majority seems to dislike it. It's uncomfortable. The mind doesn't like discomfort. You have to force your body and mind to get used to it. The sooner the better.

People think that under stress or in an emergency they'll be able to react and perform well. Thing is, most will freeze. Given the lack of physical and mental training, the majority will freeze and lose to the situation. People think that in an emergency they can break the glass and the alarm will ring, then they'll gain some superpower or heightened reflex. You won't immediately become a superhero of some sort like you see in the movies. Some people perform extraordinary feat, most don't.

You don't rise to the occasion, you sink to your training.

Keep training.
